If you like to do calligraphy (or even if you simply appreciate decorative lettering) you will love learning Medieval illumination techniques.
During the Middle Ages, manuscripts were embellished with intricately painted decorations, including beautiful initial capitals. Now you can revive this amazing art form by painting your own illuminated initial. You will make a greeting-card sized initial illuminated in the Medieval White Vine style.
No prior painting experience needed; your instructor will teach you the secrets of this art! All materials provided.
Sala Chapman is a Berkeley Springs artist who makes much of her art in the Medieval style, which reflects her involvement with the Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval historical educational organization.
Tuition: $35 / $30 MAC members. Register online macicehouse.org or call 304-258-2300
